Who needs a writer?

Who needs a professional writer these days? News is instant, words are all around us, and everyone’s an internet expert.

On smart phones and tablets. On mobiles and social media. If it’s worth publishing (or not, as is so often the case), it’s broadcast to the world in its style-free, grammarless, spellchecker-devoid shame.

Txt spk is becoming the nation’s second language. Conversations are held on touch-screens. News is churned out instantly in 140 characters via social media. We don’t have time to spend hours poring over paragraphs to digest complex information. People won’t sit pondering a sentence one word at a time.

Or will they?

Professional writers are still proud of the content they create. A real reporter won’t rest until his research is up to scratch. Proper journalists can make the difference between having your publication picked up or put back on the proverbial shelf.

Spoon Media’s commitment to journalism means we’re passionate about providing words that mean more than the sum of their parts. We’re keen on sales without the obvious hard sell. Information that’s easy to digest. A perceptible writing style that talks to your readers on their level. A bespoke written package tailored to meet your individual needs.

But passion and enthusiasm aren’t enough to succeed. Neither are established journalism qualifications and an affinity for the English language (although we have all that stuff, of course). Spoon Media’s staff and freelance writers are time-served journalists and editors from busy news backgrounds, yet we’re happiest when keyboard-deep in features and persuasive copy. We favour inviting and engaging words, catching readers’ eyes and keeping them on the page. It’s just the way we like to work.

Who needs a professional writer? You do.
